FABRIC EXPANSION JOINTS

DEKOMTE fabric expansion joints are available in any geometric shape (round, square, oval) and in any size. A metal frame, the fabric and if necessary insulation bolsters, together with flow plates and specially shaped convectors form the construction of the fabric expansion joint system. The metal frame serves to fix the fabric and the expansion joint to the duct. The fabric expansion joint takes up movements as well as mechanical and acoustic vibrations.

It usually consists of several layers. Each fulfils certain requirements, e.g. tightness, absorption of pressure shocks, insulation and temperature decrease as well as mechanical protection. Depending on the application and temperature additional insulation bolsters are used. Disturbing turbulences are minimised by flow plates and the expansion joint is protected from flow and high velocity. The convectors dissipate the heat to the ambiance to ensure that the maximum operating temperature at the sealing layers will not be exceeded while allowing a minimum temperature drop at the steel parts.

The standard designs listed in the following tables provide an overview of our range and can aid you in your design considerations. However, we would recommend that you provide us with detailed information on each individual use as we can then technically optimise the possible expansion joints taking account of movements, pressure, temperature etc., which usually leads to lower costs as well.

FLEXIBLE HOSES

DEKOMTE stainless steel corrugated hoses are high-grade, highly flexible and impermeable structural elements for piping technology. They easily satisfy the requirements for this technology with regard to resistance to pressure, vacuum tightness, temperature stability, resistance to corrosion, flexibility and durability.

DEKOMTE stainless steel corrugated hoses are universally applicable for practically all fluid and gaseous media as well as pumpable solid substances, if necessary using a PTFE liner as protection against especially aggressive media or to attain a non-adhesive inner wall (DEKOMTE PTFE chemical tubes).

PTFE BELLOWS

PTFE bellows or PTFE expansion joints and PTFE compensators combine the high corrosion resistance of PTFE and its fantastic flexion capability. Based on these two properties of PTFE, Mersen's products are suitable for use with all chemical products and compensate for repeated thermal expansion in pipelines.

RUBBER BELLOWS

Rubber expansion joints are universal expansion joints for axial, lateral and angular movement, available with fully developed rubber flanges and revolving steel flanges.

The single convolution bellow is made from different rubber qualities with pressure carrying reinforcing high tensile nylon cord or as an alternative with reinforced layers of Kevlar or fibreglass.
