Seamless steel pipe (SMLS) is formed by drawing a solid billet over a piercing rod
to create the hollow shell, without welding or seam. It is suitable for bending and
flanging.
Seamless steel pipe has better pressure capacity, strength is higher than ERW welded
steel pipe. So it is widely applied in high pressure equipment, and thermal, boiler
industries. Generally the welding seam of the welded steel pipe is the weak point,
the quality affects overall performance.
Casing is a large diameter pipe that is assembled and inserted into a recently drilled section of a borehole. Similar to the bones of a spine protecting the spinal cord, casing is set inside the drilled borehole to protect and support the wellstream.
